PCIM Asia to return to Shanghai in 2022

25 Oct 2021

After a successful event this year in Shenzhen, PCIM Asia will return to Shanghai in 2022 and will be held from 31 August – 2 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre to showcase the latest offerings in power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy and energy management. Going forward, the fair will alternate between Shenzhen and Shanghai to solidify its place as the leading fair for power electronics in Asia.

PCIM Asia 2021 concluded successfully last month in Shenzhen, where over 90% of the 102 exhibitors were satisfied with the outcome of the fair, as well as attracting 11,314 professional visits. While the move to Shenzhen and focus on the South China region were much appreciated, participants were also pleased to know that PCIM Asia will be going back to Shanghai in 2022.

Shanghai hosts the most power electronics company headquarters in China, while an increasing number of domestic companies are emerging in the Yangtze River Delta region which surrounds the city. The region, along with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) which includes Shenzhen, form two of the three main metropolitan areas in China which together account for just under a quarter of the country’s total GDP. Across 27 major cities, the Yangtze River Delta region hosts a large concentration of prominent universities and research institutions as well as a wealth of local talent, thus proving an ideal location for PCIM Asia as well as the power electronics industry as a whole.

Commenting on PCIM Asia’s return to Shanghai in 2022, Mr Louis Leung, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, shared: “Holding PCIM Asia every other year between Shanghai and Shenzhen will allow manufacturers to cater to different end-users of power electronics, with Shanghai focusing particularly on electric vehicles, power inverters and the electrical grid while Shenzhen will cover a wide variety of end-users including smart home appliance manufacturers. PCIM Asia therefore looks poised to continue its rise to become the leading fair for power electronics in Asia, covering a wider area of applications and a larger number of customers.”

Held on the same date and venue next autumn are Messe Frankfurt’s Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology, Shanghai Smart Home Technology and Parking China. Participants of PCIM Asia 2022 will be able to take advantage of synergies between the different fairs, with potential applications of power electronics across a wide range of sectors such as in smart home appliances with remote control systems, voice recognition and smart sensors as well as within building technology applications including heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. With 20 years of experience in the East China region, PCIM Asia is a recognised platform which will bring the industry together and showcase the latest innovations in power electronics.
